Tamaulipas ITCA launches inclusive cultural program for Diversity Month

The Instituto Tamaulipeco para la Cultura y las Artes (ITCA) is offering a series of free cultural events throughout June to highlight LGBTTTI+ visibility and inclusion in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. Director general Héctor Romero‑Lecanda said the program follows the 2025 state law recognizing LGBTTTI+ people and aims to promote “equality and inclusion” and to “reduce stigma and create safer environments, especially for younger generations.”

The schedule includes a free performance of "Beautiful Julia" (June 20), a virtual talk on cultural rights and sexual diversity (June 26), a Queer poetry recital the same evening, and a film screening "Mi pecho está lleno de centellas" on June 28. Additional activities such as the museum exhibit "Over the rainbow" and a nighttime cultural picnic with the "Somos más que una letra" exhibition are planned in border‑city venues.

The initiative is part of the state government’s broader human‑rights agenda under Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya and the Secretariat of Social Welfare, seeking to ensure cultural participation without discrimination.
