Tamaulipas Judicial Discipline Tribunal reviews 300 cases
The Discipline Tribunal of the Tamaulipas Judiciary has issued more than 300 determinations regarding potential irregularities by judicial personnel during its first year of operation. Tania Contreras López, president of the State Supreme Court of Justice, reported that approximately 20 percent of the reviewed cases resulted in sanctions, while 80 percent were found to be unfounded.
Complaints are processed through audits of case files to identify misconduct. One ongoing investigation involves a civil judge in Ciudad Victoria accused of allegedly favoring a party to facilitate a property dispossession. The tribunal is currently auditing the relevant files to determine if administrative consequences or precautionary measures are necessary.
Contreras López noted that judicial officials may be temporarily removed from their duties if there are indications of serious irregularities that could impact the continuity or development of a legal process.
