Tamaulipas Auditoría Superior flags municipal account observations

The Auditoría Superior del Estado (ASE) of Tamaulipas reported extensive observations on public accounts. In the municipal audit, the city of Victoria faced observations amounting to 515 million pesos. Mayor Eduardo Gattás Báez described the findings as purely administrative, noting that they involve documentation issues such as illegible credentials rather than irregularities in project execution or fund handling. He expressed respect for the auditor’s work and said the municipal administration will address each point.

Separately, ASE announced that its 2024 state‑wide audit uncovered observations totaling 14.414 billion pesos across state agencies and municipalities. The agency emphasized a shift toward active enforcement: auditors now conduct physical checks of projects, assets, and services, and will sanction entities that fail to provide complete information. The reforms aim to transform the audit function from a paperwork exercise into a concrete anti‑corruption tool.
