Tamaulipas rolls out transport concession reforms, skate park proposal, and $3.5 bn infrastructure program

The government of Tamaulipas launched a regularization program for roughly 8,000 public‑transport concessionaires who owe back fees. Under the decree, operators can settle their debts with a single payment of 14,800 pesos, with a deadline in August. About 4,000 concessions that had been cancelled may still be reclaimed through the scheme, and the state plans to reassign some permits to bolster school‑transport and employee‑transport services in municipalities such as Reynosa and Ciudad Mante.

In the state congress, legislators proposed that all 43 municipalities create dedicated skate‑boarding and urban‑sports areas within parks and green zones to reduce accidents and give young people safe venues for activities like skateboarding and calisthenics.

Separately, the public works secretariat announced an acceleration of infrastructure work in the second half of the year, targeting more than 350 projects with an investment exceeding 3.5 billion pesos. Projects include extending the José López Portillo boulevard in Ciudad Victoria, paving works in Nuevo Laredo, and cleanup operations in southern municipalities, aiming to boost regional employment and economic activity.
