Tamaulipas municipalities face 2.6 billion peso financial irregularities

The State Audit Office (ASE) has identified financial and administrative irregularities totaling 2,673,232,187 pesos across the 2024 public accounts of 41 municipalities in Tamaulipas, Mexico.

Eliphaleth Gómez Lozano, president of the Vigilance Commission of the ASE, confirmed that these funds remain unverified or unrectified. The accounts were rejected due to a lack of supporting fiscal and administrative documentation.

Among the affected municipalities are Abasolo, Antiguo Morelos, Bustamante, Palmillas, Camargo, Cruillas, Gómez Farías, González, Guerrero, Gustavo Díaz Ordaz, Jaumave, Llera, Mainero, Miguel Alemán, San Fernando, and Tula. Additionally, municipalities such as Tampico, Valle Hermoso, and Xicoténcatl were unable to substantiate their 2024 expenditures despite having experienced administrative teams.

Negative audit reports may lead to administrative proceedings or criminal liabilities, depending on the ongoing investigations conducted by the ASE.
