Tamaulipas named Honor Guest at Mexico's Mundo Mezcal festival
Tamaulipas will serve as the State Honor Guest at the second edition of Mundo Mezcal, Mexico’s largest agave and mezcal festival. The event runs October 16‑18 at the Jardines del Campo Marte in Mexico City, covering 10,000 sqm with more than 8,000 visitors and over 400 exhibitors.
Secretary of Tourism Benjamin Hernández Rodríguez said the distinction will spotlight the state’s artisanal spirits, while Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya highlighted support for local communities and natural wealth. Festival coordinator Marisol Rumayor Siller noted Tamaulipas holds designations for tequila and mezcal and is home to the rare Agave Montana, underscoring the region’s biodiversity. Organizers aim to strengthen the production chain and open national and international markets for its producers.
