Tamaulipas officials call for stronger actions against gender and family violence

State Deputy Eva Reyes urged all 43 municipalities in Tamaulipas to improve coordination and resources to prevent gender‑based violence after the multihomicide in Reynosa that killed a mother and her two daughters. She highlighted the need for more forensic staff, citizen participation tables, and effective protocols from the state prosecutor’s office.

Ciudad Victoria’s municipal secretary Hugo Reséndez Silva also called for reinforced measures against family violence, citing unemployment, marginalisation, addiction and heat as contributing factors. He referenced the national “Aliados” forum on gender equity and the state’s “Educando Familias” programme aimed at teaching children to recognise abusive situations.

Both officials stress that municipal authorities, civil society and law‑enforcement must work together to create safer environments for women and families in Tamaulipas.
