Tamaulipas officials coordinate care for seized exotic animals

Exotic animals seized during a recent operation in southern Tamaulipas remain under the custody of the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa) while their final destination is determined.

The executive spokesperson for the Tamaulipas Commission of Parks and Biodiversity stated that the commission is in communication with Profepa and has offered to assist with temporary housing for some specimens. However, officials noted that state parks lack the capacity to accommodate all the seized animals.

The commission indicated that they may be able to temporarily house certain species, such as felines, depending on individual animal needs. The final decision regarding the animals rests with Profepa in coordination with the General Prosecutor's Office (Fiscalía General de la República).
