Tamaulipas officials discuss political ambitions and development projects
Tamaulipas Subsecretary of General Government Tomás Gloria Requena said he maintains a political interest, including the possibility of running in the 2027 elections, but emphasized that his current priority is to serve the governor’s agenda and the people of the state. He referenced Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya’s guidance that any political aspirations must follow the rules set by the party institute.
National Development Bank (Nafin) chief Carlos Torres Rosas, together with Bancomext, met with Governor Villarreal and the state’s advisory council to reaffirm a strategic partnership aimed at boosting key projects such as the Puerto del Norte in Matamoros, the Interior Port of Ciudad Victoria and the Altamira Economic Development Pole. The meeting also highlighted support from President‑elect Claudia Sheinbaum and Economy Secretary Marcelo Ebrard for the Altamira initiative and the upcoming arrival of Canadian logistics firm Logistec.
