Tamaulipas PAN internal clash over alleged huachicol‑linked financing

Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya praised the social programs announced by President Claudia Sheinbaum, noting they benefit more than 800,000 residents of Tamaulipas and total over 24 billion pesos annually. He also recalled a recent gathering of over 21,000 people who followed the president’s report remotely.

During the same broadcast, PAN parliamentary coordinator Gerardo Peña Flores called for the cancellation of the registration of Morena and its coalition parties ahead of the 2027 elections, alleging that the parties were financed with money derived from the illegal fuel‑theft (huachicol) network. The internal PAN renewal process has become a contest between the slate led by César Augusto “El Truko” Verástegui Ostos and another faction headed by Gloria Garzajiménez. Peña Flores himself appears on the third‑place list, while José Alejandro Llanas Alba, a long‑time PAN deputy from Río Bravo, was added in fourth place despite being under investigation for participation in a huachicol‑related money‑laundering scheme. A national outlet reported that Llanas Alba owns a fuel‑transport company linked to an entity sanctioned by the United States in May 2025.
