Tamaulipas Pride month rallies with statewide inclusion agenda and large Tampico march

Morena party officials and LGBT+ leaders in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas met to coordinate a statewide inclusion agenda ahead of Pride Month. The meeting, convened by state diversity secretary María Guadalupe Gómez Núñez, resulted in plans for two illumination events on June 21 in Tampico and June 24 in Ciudad Victoria, and a push for the proposed "Law for the Recognition and Care of LGBTTTIQ+ Persons" championed by Governor Américo Villarreal.

The sixth Pride March in Tampico is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026, with organizers expecting between 3,000 and 6,000 attendees. Municipal authorities, including Mayor Mónica Villarreal Anaya, are supporting the march, which will begin at Walmart Alijadores and end at Plaza de la Libertad, followed by a Pride Festival with concerts and the coronation of the 2026 Pride queen. The event aims to highlight the need for a state identity law, combat hate, and generate economic activity for the region.
