Tamaulipas rolls out tourism push, security upgrades and legal reforms
A recent INEGI survey placed Tamaulipas second among Mexican states for self‑reported wellbeing, scoring 8.79 out of 10. The state’s tourism campaign, La Gran Escapada 2026, generated an economic spill‑over of about 929 million pesos, highlighted by CONCANACO SERVYTUR as a model of public‑private cooperation.
Governor Américo Villarreal delivered new security assets, including 17 pick‑up patrol vehicles, two mobile surveillance towers and a total of 125.2 million pesos of equipment for public works, aiming to strengthen public safety and municipal services. A parallel notary reform now bars individuals listed in the Register of Alimony Debtors from executing notarized transactions until they prove payment, tightening protection for children.
The Tamaulipas Fiscalía announced the creation of a specialized unit to clear a backlog of thousands of pending criminal investigations, and the Organización Nacional de Protección al Patrimonio Familiar appealed for an extension of the federal car‑regularisation program after roughly 120 000 vehicles failed to meet title‑document requirements. Together, these measures reflect a broad agenda to improve welfare, boost the economy and tighten legal enforcement in the state.
