Tamaulipas pushes for faster road checkpoints ahead of 2026 World Cup

Movement Ciudadano (MC) urged the Tamaulipas state government to coordinate its security agencies so that road checkpoints can be processed more quickly without compromising safety. Deputy Juan Carlos Zertuche Romero presented an exhorto calling for better coordination of highway inspections, noting that independent checks have created delays of up to five hours on the key Reynosa‑Monterrey corridor, raising economic costs and reducing productivity. He stressed that the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup will bring thousands of visitors through the state, and that efficient, secure checkpoints are essential to project an orderly image while maintaining crime‑fighting measures.
