Tamaulipas reports 1,581 missing minors, 11% of all disappearances

Official records in Ciudad Victoria show that 1,581 children and adolescents under 18 have been reported missing in Tamaulipas up to 16 May 2026, representing 11 % of the state’s total missing‑person cases. Men account for roughly 62 % of these minor disappearances, while 11 girls were reported missing between January and May 2026.

Authorities and civil‑society groups say the figures highlight the urgency of improving prevention, rapid‑response searches, and protective protocols for minors, and are calling for stronger public policies to address the ongoing security crisis in the state.
