Tamaulipas reports up to 13% shortage in general medicine supplies

The Secretary of Health for Tamaulipas, Ricardo Gerardo Guerrero Morales, reported that general medicine supplies in the state's health centers are currently between 87% and 88%, indicating a shortage of up to 13%. This data was provided by IMSS-Bienestar.

Despite the general shortage, Guerrero Morales emphasized that oncology medications are fully available in all medical units across the state. He noted that while only a few health centers are experiencing shortages, efforts are being made to address these gaps.

To strengthen the healthcare system, the state is preparing the 2027 budget draft and plans to open recruitment processes for general practitioners and nursing staff through IMSS-Bienestar in September. Health district directors recently held planning sessions to review priority programs and improve general conditions across the 12 health districts.
