Tamaulipas Secures Dedicated Disaster Fund and Federal Support

State Finance Secretary Carlos Irán Ramírez González announced that Tamaulipas maintains an annual disaster‑prevention trust approved by the state Congress. The fund, described as a “fideicomiso de previsión,” provides resources for floods, hurricanes, hail, earthquakes and other hydrometeorological events and is intended to enable rapid response without bureaucratic delay. The budgetary measure was discussed at the recent Hacendaria Commission meeting in Tampico and is cited by credit‑rating agencies as a factor in the state’s strong credit rating and its ranking among the top five Mexican entities for fiscal transparency.

Federal Protection Civil coordinator Laura Velázquez Alzúa confirmed that the national government also earmarks funds for natural‑disaster relief in Tamaulipas. These federal resources can be activated immediately once the state authorizes their use, covering emergency repairs to roads, bridges, water systems and other critical infrastructure. The coordinated financing aims to protect residents and sustain essential services during the hurricane season.

State fiscal projections show continued growth in federal revenues, a stable gross domestic product trajectory and declining inflation, reinforcing the government's capacity to maintain the disaster fund and uphold financial stability.
