Tamaulipas security agencies improve response times and boost anti‑alcohol traffic checks
Willy Zúñiga Castillo, executive secretary of the Tamaulipas State Public Security System, said that coordination among municipal, state and federal authorities has shortened the response time of security forces. Rapid deployments have cleared criminal blockades in border cities such as Reynosa, Matamoros, Nuevo Laredo and Ciudad Victoria, helping keep violent‑crime incidents low. He noted that "Las fuerzas de seguridad se activan de forma instantánea ante cualquier incidente, logrando detenciones directas en los eventos de alto impacto recientes."
Livio Flores Rodríguez, director of the Public Security, Transit and Roadway Division, announced the restart of anti‑alcohol traffic operations in Ciudad Victoria for the vacation period. Checks will be carried out mainly on Friday and Saturday nights, supervised by the State Guard, the CEDH and the Municipal Comptroller. Flores emphasized that the aim is to raise awareness and prevent accidents, stating, "Lo que buscamos es generar conciencia y evitar tragedias; no se pretende afectar a los automovilistas, sino protegerlos." Citizens were urged to plan trips, designate sober drivers, and use public or app‑based transport when drinking.
