Tamaulipas seeks two Guinness World Records

The state of Tamaulipas, Mexico, is attempting to secure two new Guinness World Records to promote its cultural identity and tourism. Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez, the Secretary of Tourism for Tamaulipas, announced the initiatives as part of an effort to increase international visibility and economic impact.

The first attempt, titled ‘Encuérate en Tula’, will take place in the ‘Pueblo Mágico’ of Tula on November 28, 2026. The goal is to set the record for the largest number of people wearing the ‘Cuera’ and the ‘Mañanita Tamaulipeca’, traditional artisanal garments.

The second attempt will occur during ‘Marciano Fest’ at Playa Miramar in Ciudad Madero. On October 24, organizers aim to establish a record for the largest gathering of people dressed as Martians, a theme inspired by local legends and the area's association with extraterrestrial phenomena.
