Tamaulipas State Accelerates Road Repairs Ahead of Hurricane Season

Pedro Cepeda Anaya, secretary of the Tamaulipas Public Works Ministry, said that most damage to state infrastructure from previous rains has been repaired. Only a few minor rural road projects—primarily small bridges and culverts—remain pending, and officials expect to finish them before the upcoming tropical cyclone period.

The state has allocated dedicated disaster‑response funds that can be activated by the governor. More than 100 million pesos are being spent on hydraulic infrastructure in the southern region, especially in Ciudad Madero and Tampico, to improve water discharge and reduce flood risk. Additional projects include potable‑water and drainage improvements, while municipal governments continue to maintain storm‑drain systems.
