Tamaulipas boosts security, sports, education and energy

Mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas of Nuevo Laredo said coordinated security efforts with state authorities and the federal government have created a peaceful environment that attracted a major beer company to host World Cup‑related events in the city.

State tourism officials reported that sport‑related activities generated about 8 million pesos in Ciudad Victoria, while the upcoming XXII National Student Sports Encounter will host more than 3,000 participants from over 30 states. A local veteran football league also noted that club El Rebaño leads the standings with 36 points.

University student Yasuriana Villazana López earned a silver medal at the National Women’s Mexican Mathematics Olympiad, highlighting academic talent from the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas.

Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya emphasized Tamaulipas’s role as a national energy leader, noting the state ranks second in electricity and wind generation, is constructing four new substations, modernizing 54 distribution networks, pursuing 100 % electrification, launching the first "Gasolinera del Pueblo" and developing bio‑ethanol from sorghum.
