Tamaulipas Tourism Gains from Security Upgrades and Launch of Barbacha Fest
Tamaulipas Secretary of Tourism Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez highlighted recent security enhancements across the state, crediting Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya for adding intelligence systems, advanced technology, specialized equipment and a network of "Estaciones Seguras" on major roads. He noted the 078 hotline run by the "Ángeles Verdes" team provides mechanical assistance and tourist guidance, aiming to make travel safer and more reliable.
The tourism office also announced the inaugural "Barbacha Fest" in El Mante, scheduled for 27 June 2026. The event will feature a barbecue competition open to teams of three to ten members, with cash prizes of 20,000, 15,000 and 10,000 pesos for the top three places. Registration runs until 19 June. Organizers say the festival will showcase regional cuisine, music and culture, boosting the local economy and promoting the identity of Tamaulipas.
