Tamayo parents block school access over unsafe infrastructure
Parents of students at the Máximo Gómez school in Batey 2, Tamayo, blocked student access to the facility on Monday to protest deteriorating infrastructure. The protesters are demanding urgent intervention from educational authorities to ensure the safety of children, teachers, and administrative staff.
Concerns center on the worsening state of the building, specifically the deterioration of the roof in several areas. Parents reported that a portion of the ceiling in an early childhood classroom previously collapsed; fortunately, no children were inside at the time. To prevent more serious accidents, parents have decided to prevent students from entering until the Ministry of Education conducts a structural evaluation and carries out necessary repairs.
