Tameem Choudhury jailed for stealing £92k from cancer charity

Tameem Choudhury, a 29-year-old former finance worker for the charity Breast Cancer Now, has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison for fraud and money laundering. The sentencing took place at the Royal Courts of Justice following his guilty plea.

In August 2023, Choudhury intercepted a refund of approximately £91,966 from The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. He used his corporate email and Breast Cancer Now letterhead to redirect the funds into his personal bank account.

Police investigations revealed that Choudhury used the stolen money to fund wedding and honeymoon expenses, settle personal debts, purchase luxury items—including a £14,000 Alexander Brown ring—and pay for flights to Qatar. Investigators also found evidence of monetary transfers to relatives.

City of London Police stated that Choudhury “abused a position of trust,” noting that his actions put charitable funds intended for vital research and patient support at risk. Approximately £42,866 was recovered after his bank froze his account due to suspicious activity.
