Tameka Yallop joins Wellington Phoenix from Brisbane Roar
Matildas legend Tameka Yallop is joining the Wellington Phoenix for the 2026-27 A-League Women season. The 35-year-old midfielder is departing the Brisbane Roar to be closer to her family in New Zealand.
Yallop leaves Brisbane as the club’s all-time record appearance holder and leading goalscorer in the women’s program, with 179 matches and 74 goals. In recognition of her legacy, the Brisbane Roar will retire her number 13 jersey, marking the first time the club has done so for any player.
Phoenix head coach Bev Priestman described the signing as a major recruitment success, noting Yallop’s immense experience in high-pressure international moments and various top-tier global leagues. Yallop expressed excitement about the high-performance environment in Wellington and the opportunity to compete for titles.
