Tameside Council advances plan for 9,700 new homes
Tameside Council is advancing its ‘Homes, Spaces, Places’ (HSP) growth blueprint, which aims to deliver approximately 9,700 new homes by 2042. The council’s executive cabinet is scheduled to meet to move the plan into its final stage: a public and organizational consultation.
Following this consultation, the local authority will submit the plan to the government for official adoption. The strategy focuses on reconfiguring town centres and developing specific employment hubs, including Tame Valley, Ashton Moss, and Denton. Key residential projects include the Godley Green Garden Village, planned for 2,150 homes, and 440 homes south of Hyde.
In addition to housing, the plan proposes significant commercial development, including 17,055 square metres of office space and 277,930 square metres of industrial and warehousing space. The HSP framework also emphasizes connectivity through improvements to the active travel network and development around transport hubs, such as the ongoing project near Stalybridge station.
