Tamil cinema updates: Dorothy release and Haiku distribution

The Tamil film industry is seeing new releases and distribution developments. The film ‘Dorothy’, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, explores themes of gender and the historical evolution of the ‘Madurai film’ genre. The narrative follows the relationship between characters Karthi and Subbu, with the latter undergoing a gender transition within a traditional family setting.

In distribution news, Sakthi Film Factory has acquired the Tamil Nadu theatrical rights for the romantic drama ‘Haiku’. This marks the third collaboration between the distribution house and the film’s production team. Directed by Yuvaraj Chinnasamy and starring Aegan, Sridevi, and Femina George, ‘Haiku’ is scheduled for a worldwide release on October 23, with Netflix serving as the OTT partner.
