Tamil Nadu accounts for one‑third of India's organ donations, says Minister K. G. Arun Raj
Tamil Nadu Minister K. G. Arun Raj announced that the state continues to lead India in deceased organ donation, contributing nearly one‑third of the country's total donations. The announcement came after the "Life After Life" organ donor award ceremony in Coimbatore, where a "Wall of Honour" was inaugurated to recognize donors whose organs have saved lives.
Arun Raj emphasized that the government will take strict action against any hospital, institution or organization involved in irregularities, citing recent kidney‑trafficking scandals. He noted that procedures have been tightened and streamlined to improve transparency while maintaining public confidence in the transplantation programme, which relies heavily on the consent of grieving families.
