Tamil Nadu Assembly faces disruptions over political debates
The Tamil Nadu Assembly experienced significant disruptions and heated political exchanges during recent proceedings. DMDK general secretary Premallatha Vijayakant criticized the frequent arguments and commotion that occurred whenever Minister Aadhav Arjuna rose to speak, noting that such confrontations consume valuable time intended for discussing public issues and grant demands.
Separately, Social Justice Minister Vanni Arasu triggered an uproar by questioning the approach of major Dravidian parties toward Dalit political representation. Arasu argued that genuine social justice requires equal political power-sharing rather than symbolic representation, specifically questioning why the DMK had not provided the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) a share in the Cabinet during its tenure. These remarks led to protests from DMK MLAs, who raised slogans and objected to the Minister's comments, resulting in a tense atmosphere within the House.
