Tamil Nadu CM Vijay addresses Assembly on corruption and law and order

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay addressed the Legislative Assembly on Monday, responding to intense opposition criticism regarding law and order and alleging systemic corruption within the DMK.

Vijay cited Enforcement Directorate reports alleging that DMK leaders, including MK Stalin, Udhayanidhi Stalin, and Senthil Balaji, collected money under the guise of party funds. He also invoked the Sarkaria Commission report to accuse former Chief Minister Karunanidhi of abusing his official position. Regarding public safety, Vijay pledged to fill police vacancies and digitalize the department to combat conventional and cybercrime.

The opposition, led by Udhayanidhi Stalin and Edappadi K. Palaniswami, criticized the current administration's handling of crime, citing a rise in murders, sexual assaults, and robberies.
