Tamil Nadu BJP demands recovery of stolen emerald Murugan statue
Tamil Nadu BJP leader Nayagar Nagendran has demanded the immediate recovery of a priceless 2.5-foot emerald Murugan statue and silver items stolen from the Thandayuthapani Swamy Temple near Madurantakam in Chengalpattu district.
Nagendran criticized the TVK government, led by Chief Minister Joseph Vijay, alleging a failure of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department and the police force to protect Hindu temples. He accused the administration of being negligent regarding temple security and modern surveillance.
Furthermore, the BJP leader claimed the government is showing bias toward the Christian religion, citing instances of religious practices by legislative officials. He warned that if a special task force is not formed to recover the statue and suppress those responsible, the BJP would organize a major protest involving devotees.
