Tamil Nadu by-elections: AIADMK seeks BJP support as DMK announces candidates
Political activity is intensifying in Tamil Nadu ahead of the by-elections for the Dharapuram and Madurantakam constituencies, scheduled for September 6.
Former AIADMK ministers, including K. P. Munusamy, Thindukal Srinivasan, O. S. Maniyan, and Agri Krishnan Moorthy, met with BJP state president Nayinar Nagendran in Chennai to request support for the AIADMK. They delivered a letter from AIADMK General Secretary Palaniswami seeking cooperation. Nagendran indicated he would consult with party leadership before making a decision.
Meanwhile, DMK leader M. K. Stalin has announced the party's candidates for the upcoming polls. Lawyer I. Paranthaman will contest from the Madurantakam constituency on behalf of the Secular Progressive Alliance, and lawyer S. Suganya will contest from Dharapuram. These by-elections follow the resignation of several AIADMK MLAs who joined the DMK-led alliance after the May assembly elections.
