Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay considers moving to official residence
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay is reportedly considering a move to an official government residence in Raja Annamalaipuram, Chennai, to reduce travel time and minimize public disruption. Currently, the Chief Minister commutes daily from his residence in Neelankarai to the Secretariat, a long journey that necessitates frequent road closures and traffic diversions for security reasons.
Officials have identified a residence within the Podhigai complex, located on D.G.S. Dhinakaran Salai opposite Tholkappia Park, as a suitable location. The property, formerly occupied by a former Chief Secretary, is already a secured area and offers close proximity to the Secretariat.
Renovation work on the residence is currently underway. Police officials have inspected the site to evaluate security, surroundings, and transport logistics. Government officials plan to present the renovated residence to the Chief Minister for a final decision.
