Tamil Nadu CM announces rewards for Asian Games medalists
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has announced significant cash rewards for two athletes following their success at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
Cricketer G. Kamalini will receive a ₹75 lakh award for her role in the Indian women’s cricket team’s gold medal victory. The team secured the title by defeating Sri Lanka by 147 runs in the T20 final, successfully defending their championship status. Kamalini contributed to the team's campaign through matches against Japan and Bangladesh.
Additionally, athlete Baranica Elangovan has been awarded a ₹30 lakh incentive for winning the bronze medal in women’s pole vault. Elangovan made history as the first Indian to win an Asian Games medal in that specific event. The incentive is being provided through the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority to recognize her achievement and perseverance.
