Tamil Nadu CM C Joseph Vijay completes first 100 days in office
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has completed his first 100 days in office, marking a significant shift in the state's political landscape following his party's, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), electoral victory. The administration has characterized this period as “Governance for Generations,” focusing on rapid execution of campaign promises.
Key initiatives reported by the Chief Minister's Office include securing Rs 1.02 lakh crore in investment commitments via the Vettri Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave, the rollout of the Vettri Housing Scheme, and an agricultural loan waiver for marginal farmers. The government also implemented the “Singapenn” task force for women’s safety, an anti-drug crackdown, and the closure of 717 TASMAC liquor outlets.
Welfare programs highlighted include the Thaaimaaman Thanga Mothiram scheme for newborns, gold and silk saree gifts for eligible women, and the Perunthalaivar Kamarajar breakfast scheme for students. While the administration emphasizes decisive action and inclusive representation—noting a diverse cabinet including members from Scheduled Caste and Brahmin communities—critics have pointed to challenges regarding administrative inexperience and growing pressure from farmers.
