Tamil Nadu CM C. Joseph Vijay faces political scrutiny

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay and his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), are facing political scrutiny following a controversy over state highway signboards. In Sathankulam, officials installed a signboard featuring place names in Tamil, Hindi, and English. Following public criticism and social media backlash regarding the inclusion of Hindi, the Tamil Nadu government removed the Hindi lettering. The state government has since suspended the Assistant Divisional Engineer and Assistant Engineer responsible for the sign, stating that departmental action is being initiated.

Separately, DMK president MK Stalin has criticized Chief Minister Vijay for his silence regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and the Chief Election Commissioner issue. During a rally in Dharapuram, Stalin questioned whether Vijay was intimidated by the BJP and accused the Chief Minister of failing to maintain Assembly decorum. Stalin also leveled allegations of horse-trading against the TVK government ahead of upcoming bypolls.
