Tamil Nadu CM C Joseph Vijay faces Udhayanidhi Stalin's criticism over Mekedatu silence at Niti Aayog

Opposition leader Udhayanidhi Stalin accused Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay of remaining silent on the disputed Mekedatu dam project during the Niti Aayog meeting in New Delhi. Stalin questioned whether recent achievements cited by Vijay – such as the state’s high rank among Indian economies and the claim that 42 % of women workers in India are from Tamil Nadu – were products of the new one‑month‑old government or stemmed from the previous DMK administration.

Stalin also highlighted Vijay’s push at the meeting to change medical‑college admissions from NEET scores to Class‑12 marks and his request for a Rs 3,284 crore release under the Samagra Shiksha scheme. The critique framed the TVK government as a “sofa‑model” that merely pasted stickers over the DMK’s past achievements.
