Tamil Nadu CM Vijay leaves designated seat to sit with cabinet ministers
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay performed an unprecedented gesture during the afternoon session of the State Assembly on Thursday, August 27. Vijay left his designated seat, which is traditionally positioned near the Speaker’s chair, to sit among cabinet ministers in the front row.
During the proceedings, the Chief Minister sat between ministers K. A. Sengottaiyan and Aadhav Arjuna. While it is common for ministers or legislators to change seats to converse with colleagues, reports indicate it is highly unusual for a Chief Minister to abandon their official seat to sit with the cabinet.
In the assembly, the Chief Minister’s position is typically fixed near the Speaker, with ministerial seating determined by seniority. No official reason has been provided for the move, though video of the interaction has gained significant attention on social media.
