Tamil Nadu CM Vijay to flag off Ajith Kumar's race at Silverstone

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is scheduled to wave the ceremonial green flag at the Le Mans Cup race at the Silverstone circuit in the United Kingdom. This event marks the Chief Minister’s first foreign trip since assuming office and will feature actor Ajith Kumar, a long-time contemporary in the Tamil film industry, as a competing participant.

The visit coincides with broader initiatives to develop motorsports in Tamil Nadu. The Chief Minister recently announced plans in the state assembly to construct a dedicated Motor Sports City and an Olympic City. These facilities are intended to host international racing events, such as Formula 1, F2, F3, and F4, while providing training infrastructure for young racing talent to establish Chennai as a regional motorsports hub.

Ajith Kumar expressed his appreciation for the government’s initiative in an official letter, describing the project as a significant step for motorsports in India. The two actors, who have maintained a perceived professional rivalry for over three decades, are expected to bridge their industry personas through this international sporting event.
