Tamil Nadu consumers face power cuts and unreachable utility officials
Electricity consumers in Tamil Nadu are facing difficulties due to unannounced power outages and a breakdown in communication with utility officials. Reports indicate that both local engineers and Fuse of Call (FOC) centres have been unreachable, with many official corporate user group (CUG) numbers failing to connect.
Consumers and civic activists have noted that calls to officials often result in automated messages stating the numbers lack incoming call facilities. The Tamil Nadu Progressive Consumer Centre highlighted the inability to contact engineers or FOC centres to register complaints. Officials from the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TNPDCL) have attributed these communication failures to issues with the telecom provider Airtel.
