Tamil Nadu to Open 12 Mini Taluk Offices in Chennai for Faster Revenue Certificates
The Tamil Nadu government plans to establish 12 mini taluk offices across Chennai, each equipped with dedicated e‑Seva centres, to handle applications for community, income, nativity, widow, legal heir and residence certificates. The pilot locations include Kodungaiyur, Erukkancheri, Porur, Mogappair, Korattur, Saligramam, Neelangarai, Pallikaranai, Sholinganallur, Thiruvanmiyur/Besant Nagar, Triplicane (Thiruvallikeni) and Manapakkam. A formal announcement is expected during the upcoming session of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.
Deputy tehsildars from the revenue department headquarters will oversee the mini offices, and each centre will feature an exclusive e‑service facility to allow residents to apply for certificates close to their neighbourhoods. The department is also considering delegating signing authority for certain certificates to tehsildars handling social‑security schemes, aiming to distribute workload more evenly and speed up processing. The initiative is part of a broader effort to decentralise revenue administration and reduce delays at existing taluk offices.
