The Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TNPDCL) will establish special monitoring teams in every district of the state. The teams are tasked with quickly repairing faults, shortening power interruptions and improving consumer satisfaction after a series of outages in Chennai and surrounding areas.

A review meeting chaired by Electricity Minister C T R Nirmal Kumar approved contingency allowances for engineers – up to ₹1  lakh for chief engineers, ₹75 000 for supervising engineers, ₹50 000 for operational engineers, ₹25 000 for assistant operational engineers and ₹10 000 for junior staff – to support urgent maintenance and restoration work.

Tamil Nadu supplies electricity to about 35.2 million consumers through 1,910 substations and more than 447 000 transformers. The initiative aims to ensure an uninterrupted power supply across urban and suburban regions of the state.
