Tamil Nadu leaders deny vote-buying claims and criticize Election Commission

Political leaders in Tamil Nadu are addressing allegations of corruption and misconduct during recent election campaigns. Durai Vaiko, representing Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), denied claims that his party has engaged in vote-buying, describing such accusations as baseless defamation. He asserted that the party’s strength lies in corruption-free politics and stated that TVK does not use money to influence voters.

Durai Vaiko also expressed criticism regarding the conduct of the Election Commission, suggesting that Chief Election Commissioner Gnaneshkumar is acting against the Indian Constitution. He announced plans to participate in a protest in Delhi organized by the INDIA bloc to oppose the Commission’s actions and perceived disenfranchisement.

In a separate statement, Minister Nirmal Kumar criticized DMK leader M.K. Stalin, accusing him of making derogatory remarks about a woman from a scheduled caste. Kumar predicted a significant political shift, suggesting that the DMK, AIADMK, and BJP might face future elections together. He further claimed that the DMK’s recent successes were due to alliances with the central government and predicted a decline in the party's influence in upcoming elections.
