Tamil Nadu Assembly to debate grants for four key departments

The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly is set to reconvene to discuss demands for grants for four key departments as part of the ongoing 2026-27 budget session. Following a two-day weekend break, the House will address the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons Department, the Prohibition and Excise Department, the Social Welfare and Women’s Rights Department, and the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department.

Proceedings will begin with Question Hour, where ministers will respond to inquiries regarding constituency matters and government policies. Following this, legislators from both the ruling and opposition parties are expected to debate issues such as welfare assistance for persons with disabilities, excise policy enforcement, women’s safety, social security programs, and farmer support measures.

Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, who holds the portfolio for the welfare of differently abled persons, is scheduled to respond to matters concerning that department. Other key ministers involved in the departmental responses include K. Vignesh for Prohibition and Excise, K. Jagdishwari for Social Welfare and Women’s Rights, and R.
