Police in Virudhunagar district, Tamil Nadu, arrested 27‑year‑old K Vigneshwaran after he allegedly beat to death his live‑in partner’s three‑year‑old daughter, Vishnupriya, in Thiruthangal near Sivakasi. Investigators say Vigneshwaran viewed the child as an obstacle to his relationship with the mother, Swathi, and repeatedly assaulted the girl before she lost consciousness. The child was taken to a private hospital and later died on the way to a government facility. Police recovered the body, sent it for post‑mortem examination, and registered a murder case. The incident highlights domestic violence concerns in the region.
