Tamil Nadu Minister Nirmal Kumar Rules Out All-Party Kaveri Talks

Minister Nirmal Kumar of Tamil Nadu said an all‑party meeting on the Kaveri water dispute is unnecessary and would not yield any benefit. He explained that more than 15,000 families need to be relocated from forest land, and the state government will file a review petition before any relocation proceeds.

Kumar also addressed rising rice prices, stating that the government will consider subsidies for poor women and rename certain welfare schemes with public names rather than departmental titles. He noted that the current project timelines have been extended from 100 to 150 days, and that the administration is reviewing meter‑reading errors affecting over 1,200 locations.
