Tamil Nadu Minister Rajmohan pushes chicken biryani in school meals

Tamil Nadu School Education Minister A. Rajmohan said a proposal to serve chicken biryani once a week in government school midday meals is under serious consideration. The request has been forwarded to Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, who will take the final decision.

Rajmohan clarified that vegetarian meals will continue for students who prefer them, while the chicken biryani option is intended to provide additional protein for children. He emphasized that the proposal should not be politicised and referenced the state's historic mid‑day meal initiatives, noting that previous leaders introduced eggs and expanded the programme before his current suggestion of chicken biryani.
