Tamil Nadu officials launch rainwater harvesting initiative amid heavy rains
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has launched a statewide rainwater harvesting awareness campaign, introducing the ‘Thuli’ logo to promote groundwater conservation. The initiative, held at the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board headquarters, aims to address rising water demands, urbanization, and climate change by inspecting and repairing existing harvesting systems in government buildings, schools, hospitals, and residential areas.
In response to heavy monsoon rains in Chennai, Water Resources Minister Anand visited the T Nagar constituency to oversee relief efforts. Following reports of fallen trees and waterlogging in the Kamarajar Colony police quarters, the Minister personally supervised the removal of debris and addressed local flooding. The government has also organized food supplies for thousands of residents affected by the weather conditions.
