Tamil Nadu Opposition Leader Udhayanidhi Stalin sues NDTV and India Today for Rs 100 crore
Udhayanidhi Stalin, Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and DMK Youth Wing Secretary, issued legal notices to NDTV 24×7 and India Today TV over coverage of his remarks at a Cauvery‑related farmers’ rally. The notices, dated 6 August 2026, name anchors Shiv Aroor and Akshita Nandagopal and demand an unconditional public apology, removal of the disputed video clips, and damages of ₹100 crore each (total ₹200 crore), to be donated to farmers affected by Kuruvai crop losses.
Stalin alleges the channels distorted his speech, falsely attributing vulgar or misogynistic comments to him and misrepresenting slogans from protestors as his own. He seeks compliance within 48 hours of receipt of the notice, warning of further legal action if the demands are not met.
