Tamil Nadu police recover stolen jewellery using CCTV footage

Tamil Nadu Railway Police recovered jewellery and cash valued at Rs 8.30 lakh after a theft on the Tambaram-Madurai Kudal Express. The investigation began after a passenger, Mahadevi, reported her bag missing while traveling in a general compartment on September 12.

Using CCTV footage from Madurai railway station, investigators identified an elderly couple, Kaliappan and Solaiyammal, carrying the missing bag and boarding a Chennai-Kanniyakumari special train. After the train passed Virudhunagar, police utilized CCTV from the next station and tracked the suspects via autorickshaw movements. The couple was eventually apprehended at a bus stand, and the stolen items were recovered.
