Tamil Nadu by-elections: AIADMK and TVK leaders clash
Political campaigning has intensified ahead of the October 6 assembly by-elections in the Madurantakam and Dharapuram constituencies of Tamil Nadu. The contests follow the resignations of AIADMK MLAs who subsequently joined the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) has launched sharp criticisms against TVK leader Vijay, accusing him of running a “reel” government focused on publicity rather than addressing real issues like water scarcity and farmer distress. Palaniswami also criticized Vijay’s recent international travel and questioned his administrative capabilities.
In response, the AIADMK and TVK have engaged in mutual accusations. TVK accused Palaniswami of being a subordinate to the DMK, while AIADMK leaders have alleged dynastic politics within the party, claiming Palaniswami’s son, Mithun, is influencing organizational decisions. Additionally, MK Stalin and other senior leaders from the DMK, AIADMK, and Left parties are actively campaigning in their respective constituencies.
